This week, I was able to explore the wonderful town of Arlington, MA. Arlington reminded me of the suburbs to a certain extent. There are many neighborhoods with houses not to close to each other with backyards, parks for children to play in, and the Minuteman bike trail. In order to get to Arlington, I had to get off Alewife Station and take either bus 79 or 350 which can take you to Arlington Center.
As I started to explore this town, I realized that parts of Arlington are very quiet and peaceful. There is less traffic, except on Mass Ave, there are more families living in the neighborhoods and the residents are very helpful especially with directions and recommendations. Many of the locals recommended me to explore the Minuteman Bike trail which runs through many of the towns and cities in Boston. They also mentioned that at one point, there is a pond that many residents love to go to for picnics, walks and to simply relax. With that being said, I headed to the pond, Spy Pond.
Spy Pond is a small and cute area with many children playing in the park, areas to picnic, you can sit by the water, kayak, boat and a perfect place to do some homework and relax. I know if I want a place where I will not be disturbed, Spy Pond is my new place. I recommend anyone that likes to explore to check out Arlington and what it has to offer.
A neat fact I learned is Arlington is a dry town. If you try to order drinks, you have to order food. I thought that was very interesting, so that is just a heads up!
