Hello everyone! Wow, I can't believe it's already that time of year again.
My summer was decent...got to see lots of friends, took some trips down to the beach in Delaware to relax and unwind..worked about 22 hours/week at my part-time job. Nothing too crazy!
Anyways, school-wise I will be finishing my master in Criminal Justice in December!! I am taking one class, Seminar in Crime and Justice, on Thursday evenings. This is one of the CJ master core required classes. Students normally take this at the beginning but I waited until the end when my course load would be less demanding, as I've heard through the grapevine that this class is pretty demanding. I'm looking forward to it, especially because it's the only class I am taking, and it's an early one-- 4:30-7:10. I was not a big fan of the 7:15-9:55 classes, I must admit.
On a more exciting note, I will be doing an internship as well! I put in applications at several places, but will be interning at the Office of Investigations within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This office tends to deal with misuse, waste and abuse of the more than 300 programs within the Dept of Health & Human Services (HHS). They investigate things such as child support enforcement, medical malpractice, and others (I will elaborate as I learn!) But just to be upfront, I will have to be very general in my descriptions of what I do as I have signed confidentiality agreements-and will stick by them! I am really excited to have this opportunity and to get some exposure to the federal government. One reason being the question "So what are you going to do when you finish [the master]?" is getting really old. What's even older is my answer: "I'm not sure!" So maybe the internship will help clarify my answer a bit more.
So I will be working 17.5 hours/week at my job (about 2.5 days a week) , interning 2 days/week (16 hours a week) and class on Thursday evening.
Let me tell you... it is so much more pleasant buying books for one class rather than four :)
Stay tuned..
